- DRAMA ABOUT FORT WORTH OPERA WINS REALITY TV CONTEST
LAS VEGAS – Today, AMP Productions was selected as the winner of the CableU’s Non-Fiction Emerging Producer Contest for Lone Star Opera, a reality show exploring the behind-the-scenes-world of Fort Worth Opera’s annual Festival. The contest was held as part of the 2010 National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Fort Worth Opera: Coming Soon to Television?
A small Dallas media company is in Las Vegas today at a national conference of TV executives. The company won the opportunity to pitch the execs their idea for a six-part "docu-soap": a backstage look at the Fort Worth Opera and its three-shows-in-five-weeks season. Heartbreak and high Cs, ecstasy and exhaustion. Sex and violins.

In (1.13.10) "People Watch" section of the Star-Telegram, there was a quick blurb of Darren and AMP Productions reality TV pitch of Lone Star Opera. I couldn't find a link to the article, but go here to read what it said.

Fort Worth Opera Job Opening: Box Office Associate for 2010 Festival.
This seasonal position will run from April 26 through June 6, 2010.

Last year, Darren mentioned in one of his blogs that AMP Productions had approached us about doing a documentary. Well here's the latest Press Release on what's going on with the documentary.
AMP Productions has been announced as a finalist in CableU's Non-Fiction Emerging Producer contest with their entry Lone Star Opera, a reality show exploring the life behind the Fort Worth Opera's annual festival.

It's that time of year again! The bulk of the auditions have passed, and my empty wallet is the only thing burning a hole in my pocket. So the competition scramble begins. Time to flood local theaters, community centers, college campuses, and churches to stand up next to my colleagues and hope that I am more impressive than they are, impressive enough to win cash prizes. The funny part about competitions over auditions is that, instead of despising those of my own voice type, I am now despising…Perks
Last year, during audition season, I was in Houston auditioning and visiting my brother and his family. When I told my ten-year-old nephew about all the different cities in which I'd be auditioning, he asked me how I'd be paying for all that travel. I told him, "Well, a lot of the time in this business, we spend all the money we're making from our current job in order to audition for the next job." He responded simply, "Uncle Seth, it doesn't sound like you have a very good job." As we all know,…Welcome to Lone Star Opera
